Root Canal Treatment

When a tooth becomes infected and the infection spreads to the pulp, it can begin affecting the roots.  This causes pain and sensitivity and if left untreated, can lead to further complications.  A root canal involves removing the diseased tissue to stop the infection.  Root canals are performed to save a problem tooth where otherwise, the only alternative would be an extraction.   The tooth is temporarily filled until a permanent seal is made with a crown.  The majority of patients experience little or no pain or discomfort during a root canal.
